Why you should choose an LCD TV over a Plasma TV
You choose!
Percy and the mrs
When it comes to choosing which kind of TV to buy, whether it’s LCD TV or Plasma TV, consumers always have a hard time deciding. That’s why we will break down everything in order to prove to consumers that an LCD TV is the much better choice over a Plasma TV.
LCD TV and Plasma TV both represent the fast advancing technology that is offering viewers the best in Television viewing. But it doesn’t mean that one would cease to try to choose between these two, the better option with regards to quality and money.
There are certain advantages for both LCD TV and Plasma TV but at a careful analysis it has been proven that the LCD TV offers more advantages compared to the strong points of Plasma TV. Here are some of the finer points that the LCD TV has proven to be the better choice. Study each carefully and hopefully it will help you a great deal in choosing what to buy and answer your question “Why one should choose an LCD TV over a Plasma TV?”
Plasma TV started out with a little advantage over the LCD TV, but with the newer models of LCD TV, it has since catch up and overtaken Plasma TV with regards to picture quality and better contrast. The new LCD TVs now offers a much better color display than Plasma TVs and to add on to that, LCD TVs holds a sizable advantage with its resolution and therefore will offer a greater viewing experience compared to Plasma TV.
When it comes to using LCD TV for game consoles, LCD TVs hold the edge over Plasma TV by having a higher amount of panel resolution, the game images will look more lifelike and will result in a greatly detailed video gaming experience. Also, these advantages of the LCD will also make it possible for texts to appear more visible on screen than the ones in a Plasma TV.
Another clear advantage of LCD TV is the high resolutions that it possess. This provides a more stable image quality that will not cause eye fatigue to viewers even for extended viewing or long hours of watching shows on LCD TV. It is also proven that LCD TV’s boasts a much lengthy lifetime compared to Plasma TVs, a study proves that LCD TVs has an average life span of about 50,000 hours compared to the mere 30,000 hours of Plasma TVs.
But the biggest and most important advantages of LCD TV other than the picture quality and lifespan is the cost of LCD TVs compared to Plasma TVs. Naturally, one would expect a much better quality and lifespan for something more expensive but that is not the case with the LCD TV and Plasma TV. LCD TV even though it relatively costs a lot cheaper than Plasma TV, it also offers the best picture quality and possess the longer life span. With all these in mind, it’s obvious that LCD TV is the best choice over its Plasma counterpart.
What is PHProxy and How Can I Use It?
How and Why;
PHProxy is a type of proxy website that allows one to gain access to websites that would otherwise be blocked. These Proxy sites allow for the free and unchallenged entry on to websites such as MySpace.com and Facebook.com without a user name or a registered computer. These websites also allow for access into government websites and corporate websites which can cause serious harm or danger to the business and security of the nation and its corporations. They can come in handy for those who fear security problems with the different websites, but these websites are most often used by hackers and those who have been previously denied access to a website.
PHProxy sites are designed to allow the uninterrupted access to other websites. This access can help one in accessing websites that are governmentally blocked in some countries, although America does not have that problem. They are primarily used in hacking or for those who are too young to have access to an adult website. These Proxy sites are also used to glean information from larger companies to their competitors or smaller companies and vice versa.
Some PHProxy websites are great for those who are in foreign countries where the government controls their internet access and servers. For them, the use of a Proxy website allows for the free viewing of items their government wishes to hide from them. This could be the news from other countries, news from their own country, or views that are differing from what the government wishes to have the public hear and follow. In these countries, control of the media translates into control of the people.
In America, PHProxy websites are typically only used by those individuals who have been banned from a website or who wish to hack into a website with a reduced chance of being followed or traced back to their home or computer. This can pose serious problems to those websites that are doing their best to provide adult information while excluding children and for other companies who are seeking to keep their information private. Not many Americans use these websites, this is though to be so as to limit their chances of obtaining a virus or to enhance privacy.
Watching Movies over the Internet
Summary:
You’re watching TV one evening scanning through the re-runs thinking it’s pathetic how little there is to watch anymore when a fantastic movie trailer comes on. It’s everything you love - the right actors, the wit, the action - and your heart beats a little faster in anticipation - if only you could watch it RIGHT NOW!
Here is what to do;
Well, the film industry has heard you. Along with the speed of the internet, consumers have now come to a new stage of demand. It used to be that we WANTED everything immediately - now we EXPECT it.
This is not the sort of thing that goes unnoticed by industries that cater to public reception. And now it has been announced that we may not be far away from simply walking over to our computer and downloading the newest releases.
During a meeting at the Cannes Film Festival, Culture Ministers from across Europe, film industry representatives and Internet Service Providers were among those who met to discuss the possible policies needed to distribute movies online.
BBC news reports European Union media commissioner Viviane Reding as stating: “In Europe, as in other continents, the opportunities for people to enjoy films online are set to increase tremendously over the next few years”.
Naturally there are still many issues to be resolved before movies are readily available to the public online. Piracy and broadband capabilities are still being questioned.
Piracy became the prominent issue when music files were being illegally shared over the internet. While the music industry fought against such services as Napster, they are still far from recovering their market revenue and the film industry is not anxious to join them.
What can’t be debated is that there IS a market, and no industry likes to bypass that because of possible problems.
Right now European broadband may not be up to the task of downloading such large files but has plans to proceed with distribution soon.
In America there has already been movie distribution with the inevitable legal proceedings against individuals facilitating unauthorized downloads.
Although the fight against piracy is being taken very seriously by the industry, it is still parents who are at the forefront of setting the example and instructing children on the ethics of downloading such material. Responsibility is learned.
In any event, the next time you see a great movie advertised and you are handy to the internet, perhaps you should stay in, avoid the lines and the traffic and check it out online!
Voice Your Concerns through Anonymous Email
Hear this;
Percy
Anonymous email is a means of sending a message without revealing your identity. You may use it for personal email or chat, private business emails, and posting sites. It protects your privacy from unwanted communications or solicitations.
Uses for Anonymous Email
Sometimes you might wish you could talk to someone about a problem, but you think they will misunderstand or be offended. So, you never do it. Avoiding the problem can lead to greater problems. One solution to addressing distasteful issues is through anonymous email. On the other hand, you might like to compliment someone on a job well done but do not want to call attention to yourself. This is where sending an anonymous e mail would be a good thing to do.
Protect Your Privacy
Sending an anonymous email is an inventive way to protect your privacy. You will be able to express your feelings and opinions without fear of reprisal or censure. Setting up anonymous email accounts is simple to do with companies online who offer this service. By using their server, your emails cannot be traced back to you. Your messages are sent to the recipient with the server’s address. If they choose to reply, the message is sent to your server where you may retrieve it. It is different than private label email, which provides a separate address for you.
Contact Your Educational Facility
Some educational facilities are seeing the need to gain knowledge of opinions and views in a more confidential manner. Some of the sites that offer anonymous email have a list of school facilities that have registered to receive email from them. Even if they have not, you may use your anonymous email account to send communications.
If you’re a school principal or superintendent, there are positive grounds for using anonymous email. Your faculty might be more willing to speak out and point out trouble areas if they were not concerned about unpleasant consequences. They may feel more comfortable to speak out by remaining anonymous.
Parents and students may sometimes feel their opinion would not be heard in a respectable or reasonable manner so they hesitate to approach anyone in authority. The use of anonymous e mail makes it easier to report inappropriate behavior or dishonest practices by faculty or students without severe consequences or penalties.
Positive Anonymous Email
Anonymous email is not to be used to harass, threaten, or deceive others. It should be considered a privilege to voice your opinion or ideas anonymously. You don’t have to use it only to complain. Use it to make positive comments or to offer constructive criticism. If you would like to see things improve, have a supportive approach and a helpful attitude.
Using your anonymous email is an excellent mode of communication. When you see a need that should be addressed, don’t hesitate out of fear or embarrassment. Send a message that will help build integrity and trust in your learning environment.
How to set up your PC to Show TV
To set up any type of PC to TV system whether to watch home TV on a computer or use a computer Internet TV (with PC Satellite TV software installed) to watch free Internet media on a home TV-set, it requires two key components: 1) Video Card, and 2) Video connector cable. Setting up this type of system using number 2 will be the focal point of this article.
Whichever one is the goal, watch home television on a PC or watch computer Internet TV (with PC Satellite TV software) on a home television set, keep in mind the picture quality on a digital high definition television will be higher than on a computer screen. This has a lot to do with the computer and screen capabilities/limitations that determine the video quality.
Setting up a PC to TV can be very cheap and simple enough that even a cave man can do it. For instance, while there are all kinds of computers today, many of them share common audio and video ports to make the transition easier. There are four different types of video/audio connectors that can do the job, and requires just a little work. Here is a list of some of the most popular video connectors to consider:
Identifying Four Connector/Adapter Cables…
1. VGA, stands for Video Graphics Array, and are available to almost every Windows-based computer. Although this connection doesn’t offer the highest quality that a HDMI or DVI connection offers, it’s commonly used and works well with a SD (standard definition) or HD (high definition) TV that uses a VGA port. The price for a used VGA connector can be a few dollars and under $20.00 to buy it new.
2. HDMI stands for high-definition multimedia interface and DVI means digital visual interface. Both of them offer the best connection for HD TV. A few high-end video cards on computer already have HDMI ports on high definition (HD) television sets. Many times, MAC computers will have DVI ports that allows a connection to your television’s HDMI port–using an HDMI-to-DVI cable or adapter. For a used HDMI connector, it could run under $10.00 and a new one can cost over $10.00.
3. S-Video, stands for separate video and are often found in SD and HD TV-sets. The most common use for this type of connection involves connecting a DVD player to a SD TV-set. And it works well when using either a desktop or laptop computer that has an S-video port. The cost can be as little as a couple of dollars for a used connector cable to over $5.00 for a new one.00 (new).
4. Composite/RCA often comes with many TV-sets. More than likely, you have seen these cables at one time or another. They are those yellow, white, and red connector head cables for your video and audio. You can also use them to connect your video camera and DVD player. Some computers have video cards with RCA connections and they can be used to convert a computer’s video signal through the RCA cable going into a TV-set.
How to make the audio connection depends on what type of port a computer has, which determines whether or not separate cables are needed to get the video and audio to work properly. More than likely, you will have to optimize the computer’s audio output such as volume settings and surround sound. This requires going into the computer’s Control Panel to make minor adjustments.
How to make the audio connection depends on whether or not a computer has a HDMI port, which in turn determines if a single cable or separate cables for the audio and video are required. Also, connecting a headphone jack and external speakers to a computer can be made as well. Optimizing the audio output may be required but very simple to do. It’s just a matter of adjusting the volume settings by going into the computer’s control panel.
After determining which television and computer connector is needed, the next step is picking the correct video/audio cable to make the PC to TV connection. You can find any one of these connectors/adapters in local computer stores or online easily. The cost is very low and can take minutes to setup a PC to television system.

Setting Spellchecker to UK English
By Percy Blakeney
There are times when you will write a correctly spelled English word and it will be corrected by the Spellchecker.
The word labour is a good example as I wrote it in a blog entry above and it was underlined in red to indicate that the word was misspelled. It is not if you are in the UK!
This is a common issue. Word is often set with a US dictionary so it will highlight the words that are spelled differently in the UK from those in the US, such as colour tyres or night etc.
It is easily sorted out.
Here is what to do;
First click on Tools/Language/Set Language and highlight “English (UK)”, make sure the option ‘Detect language automatically’ is ticked and just click on the Default button.
There is a message about amending the Normal. Dot template to accept and that is it done.
No longer will Word correct your spelling when it is fine anyway!
Highly Anonymous Proxies For Secure Surfing
By Jim Rjindael
Article Submitted On: November 13, 2008
Highly anonymous proxies sound like they are a really secure way of browsing the web. In fact they really should be but alas all too often they are exactly the opposite. Before I tell you a why people make huge mistakes using anonymous proxies perhaps I should tell you a little bit about what they actually are.
You’ve probably often used a proxy maybe not at home but certainly at work, college or school. A proxy server is a computer that exists to send and receive web requests, when at work your request for a web page is sent to this server which sends out for the page and delivers it back to your browser. There are lots of benefits, the proxy server can cache copies of popular pages to speed up surfing, requests for pages can be monitored so that unsuitable content can be monitored or blocked mainly it gives the employer or school control over who surfs what through a particular connection.
For those who would like to keep their web surfing private from all the people trying to look at it from hackers, identity thieves to our concerned governments - anonymous proxies offer to possibility of privacy. Because it is the actual server which requests the web page and forwards it back to you then the only record in the logs of the web server you visit is the IP address of the proxy server.
Anonymous proxies go one step further and do not send the X-Forwarded-For header which would normally contain your IP address so there is no record at all of your IP address on the web server. But wait there’s more the definition of a highly anonymous proxy is probably a little less certain but it is usually referred to anonymous proxies that can handle https sites (the secure ones) or even masks it’s identity slightly by sending fake information.
Anyway although an anonymous proxy can hide your identity to some extent there are in fact some huge drawbacks.
- Many free anonymous proxies on the internet are in fact hacked or infected servers designed to either spy or install viruses anyone who uses them. Often the owner of the server will be completely unaware of the fact it is being used as a proxy
- Anonymous proxies can be extremely slow as you are sending your request to the server first which forwards it on to the web page. Using many proxies on the web can be extremely painful to use with multimedia taking forever to load!
- Although your identity will be shielded from the web server you visit all your details are in the logs of the proxy server and your ISP
- The vast majority of your web traffic is in clear text which can be intercepted at many stages of its journey by anyone with the desire to spy on you
Believe me this list above could go and on, using an ordinary anonymous proxy will not keep your data safe from most people and at the worse case scenario it could be delivering it to a server owned by an Eastern European Hacker group. Combined with the majority of governments now insisting that ISPs keep all your web logs, emails sent etc for two years your web surfing will be pretty much open to anyone who wants, how many identity thieves get a job doing the backups in your local ISP I wonder. Well they can can copy my backup logs all they like because mine are protected and encrypted by a military grade cipher used by the US to protect their secure data!
If you want to read about some of my thoughts on using anonymous proxies and how you can surf without being spied on, try the link below.

By Chris Moheno
Article Submitted On: July 04, 2008
New Trends in Remote Computing Technology
Remote computing technology is a system that acts to assist in the communication between one or more computers that are not in the same location. If you search for “remote administration”, or “screen sharing” online, you will often run across the process of implementing the use of remote desktop software. In this article, you will be introduced to the new trends in remote computing technology. If you are considering using this software, or just want to learn more about the technological advances in computers, this may prove to be an excellent resource!
1. Logmein - This remote computing software is quite popular among businesses. This is especially true if these businesses work to provide customer support or technical support to the customers that it provides technology based services to. This is a highly functional software program that offers many unique features to the individuals and professional organizations that implement it into their lives. There is a user friendly helpdesk mode, a featured chat function, file management applications, printer control services, and many other add-ons that can prove to be extremely productive.
2. GotomyPC - Citrix developed this particular remote computing software so that individuals who had more than one computer could access the spare if it became necessary. There are a number of features that the end user can enjoy when operating under this software. These features include a secure connection that is encrypted for the overall security of the user, compression of data while two or more computers are communicating, as well as the ability to bring files from one computer to another computer.
3. Hamachi - This type of remote computing technology software is considered to be a “VPN”, or “Virtual Private Network”. Many businesses and residences that are behind a firewall to protect the network from outside intrusion implement the use of this type of program. You will often find this in what is referred to as a “local area network”, or a “LAN”. You may also discover this program in a setting where there is an “Intranet” type topology.
Features in Remote Desktop Software
There are many different features when it comes to remote desktop software. The following outlines some of the special components that can be utilized in order to optimize your computing and networking experience:
1. Display modes that are visible in at least a bit color of 24. There are some programs that actually have a higher bit color than this, but this is usually the minimum.
2. Software developers know and understand that people who have this type of software have limited amounts of time. For this reason, the software is designed to take files and other types of data and then compress it so that they can move easily between more than one computer in a reasonable amount of time.
3. When it comes to remote desktop software, you can easily enjoy the flexibility of accessing software that is on one computer to accessing it on another computer. This means, for example, if you have Microsoft Office on one computer, a user on another system can also implement the use of Office as they deem necessary. This enhancement has only occurred in recent years and is now considered to be one of the most popular features of this type of software.
4. If you want to share a computer external hard drive, printer, or other type of hardware device, you can generally enjoy this feature in remote desktop applications. Many who focus on mobile computing find that this is extremely beneficial.
5. You can also enjoy the benefit of adjusting sounds, colors, graphics, and more when you purchase remote desktop software.
|
In conclusion, there are a number of trends and advancements when it comes to remote computing technology. Every day, it seems, new technologies are advancing and new features are becoming available. If you want to optimize your home network or optimize the ease of operation in your business, remote control desktop software is the way to go! |

Granting Local Admin Privileges from afar
By Percy Blakeney
Some time ago I worked at a helpdesk for a national charity based in London.
There were loads of regional offices and of course they all needed central support.
One of the common problem areas was local machine administration.
As ever!
We all know that in a secured network users should never have local administration privileges, but we also know that the reality is that sometimes it is the only answer. How many applications are there, that depend on local admin privileges?
Well anyway, we found two ways to get around this and today I will outline the first.
We created an OU in the Active Directory called Local PC Admin. The permissions were set so that if all members of this OU were Local Administrators of their machines.
On the whole this was a pretty good set up as we put procedures in place on the helpdesk that required managerial permission for a user to be added to the group.
Of course it was easy to add a user to the group if they were on site.
But when they were remote?
Well here is the fix we came up with;
How to remotely add the Local admin account
Start with My computer > c: \ > Windows > system32 > MMC.exe >
Then right click/ select Run as and use your admin credentials.
This brings up the snap in console.
Then click File > add/remove snap in >
Then add… > and scroll to computer management >
Next add > select another computer then either enter the PC name or its IP or use browse to target > Finish > close > OK.
At this point you have the 2 pane MMC console populated with Computer management.
In the right hand screen, double click computer management>
In the left hand screen select Local users and groups >
In the right hand pane double click Groups>
While you are still in the right hand pane, double click Administrators and Add…>
Type part of the machine name and click check names.
This will identify the Local Administrator account and underline it;
Click OK and you will see the entry Domain-name\Local PC Admin (Our OU name)has been added.
Job Done.
This is something you can do remotely while the user is still banging on and on about how they need this printer/Application/Camera or whatever.
I hope it helps.
There are more remote tips to come!
